The Principle of Vibration

Updated: Jun 1

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." ~ Nikola Tesla

You may have heard the above quote as it seems to be pretty popular, but what does it really mean? This is the fourth post in this series, so a quick recap before we dive in! Hermetic principle number one taught us that the Universal is Mental, so everything starts in the mind of all that is. Principle number two taught us that the power of the universe, that same mind of all that is, is within us. So, how do we begin to harness that power? It would be helpful to have an innerstanding of Hermetic law number three, the Principle of Vibration.

"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates." ~ The Kybalion

Nikola Tesla said "the secrets of the universe" are found within "energy, frequency, and vibration." The secrets of the universe, though?! That's a pretty heavy statement! However, when you consider that in conjunction with what the Kybalion says about vibration, it starts to make a little more sense. Nothing rests. Nothing. Us, the air we breathe, the food we eat, a rock, not even the chair we're sitting on. Nothing rests.

Everything moves. The earth, the stars, the planets. The mountains, the trees, rocks, and crystals. Everything vibrates. Even the invisible things. Our prayers, beliefs, thoughts, emotions; EVERYTHING vibrates. Is that a difficult concept to consider? We're not being facetious here. For many people, it is a train of thought that presents challenges. That's why when you start talking crystals and energy work, many people think it's woo woo mumbo jumbo. It's hard to imagine that a crystal or a rock vibrates, even invisible things.

"The differences between different manifestations of Matter, Energy, Mind, and even Spirit, result largely from varying rates of Vibrations...... the higher the vibration, the higher the position in the scale." ~ The Kybalion

However, it is indeed true. Everything is a mixture of the frequencies at

which its components vibrate. Heavier or denser objects vibrate at lower frequencies and lighter things at higher frequencies. Thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and things unseen

vibrate at even higher frequencies than the physical. Everything, both seen and unseen, is a mixture of the vibrational frequencies of all of its components. Everything emanates from the mind of God. All things are connected. Everything is vibration. So we pretty much live in a giant vibrational soup.

Ok, all that sounds really fascinating, but what can we do with this information? Again, the Hermetic principles lend themselves to a lifetime of study. However, we already learned everything emanates from the mind of God and that there is correspondence between that Great mind and the physical and spiritual realms, meaning God's Consciousness permeates through all things, both seen and unseen. The Spirit of God is found in everything and in nothing. So, then applying the third principle that everything vibrates to the fact that all things emanate from the mind of God, we can logically surmise that this same mind, or Consciousness, is also an energetic frequency.

Vibration encompasses the peaks and the valleys of energy, and Spirit is both in the action and in the stillness.

So then, if this great mind vibrates at the same frequency as love, for example, then if we align with that same frequency, would we be in alignment with the mind of God, right? However, the Spirit of God is found in everything and in nothing. Vibration encompasses the peaks and the valleys of energy, and Spirit is both in the action and in the stillness. Spirit is the oneness, the all, and the nothing that encompasses everything. Alignment with that Great Mind is in oneness. Only there can we connect and find resonance with each other and all that is. Hence, the power of stillness and meditation.

We can also learn a lot about our own creative power by studying the attributes of vibrations themselves. Vibrations attract or repel. When like vibrations come together, they become amplified. Everything has a vibrational frequency, and since we are vibrational beings, this means we are capable of coming into alignment with any vibrational frequency. By applying this principle, we can identify our vibrational proximity to, and align with, anything: any desired possession, emotion, state of being, person, or even Spirit. Everything originates in the mind, which, when used in conjunction with Spirit or Consciousness, creates the physical. So it's thereby easy to see that in alignment with Spirit and with a focused mind, we can use our own energetic frequency to attract or repel whatever we want in our lives.

So then, if everything vibrates, what gives a human creative power and not a monkey or a rock?
Free will.

So then, if everything vibrates, what gives a human creative power and not a monkey or a rock? Free will. Humans were created in the image of God with the free will and power to create, whether consciously or unconsciously. Vibrations attract or repel. Manifestations occur when in vibrational alignment, again, whether consciously or unconsciously. Applying the principle of vibration allows you to walk the spiritual journey intentionally, using your free will to choose that with which you wish to align consciously.

Now we begin to see some of the inherent value hidden within this third hermetic law. Humans are powerful energetic beings with the free will to tune in to any and all vibrational frequencies. We are made in the image of or individuations of the mind of God. As individuations of this great mind, we know that what we create begins in our own minds. We are not separate from our body, mind, or Spirit. It's our conscious observation that focuses vibration into form. Humans can choose what manifests at the free will application of their concentrated awareness. The hermetic principles remind us that the universe is mental and all begins in the mind. And that the mind is not separate from the physical or spiritual. People create all the time haphazardly. Only when mind, body, and Spirit work in conjunction can we begin to apply our free will consciously and align with the vibration of what we want to create. Free will is why the Bible has so many scriptures to remind us to stay focused on love, hope, and all the good we want to see in the world.

"If then you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on the earth." (Col. 3:1-2)

The principle of vibration gives us insight into the energetic nature of the universe. Studying this principle and the infinite ways to apply it allows us to begin to embrace the innate creative power we have to consciously orchestrate our lives. However, we do not live alone, in a bubble, or are immune to the spiritual journeys we came here to live. In other words, we came here to experience it all not just perfection. Although the principle of vibration gives us insight into how the universe and our creative power work, it along with all of the spiritual laws work in conjunction with each other. In order for the alchemist to truly transmute energy and powerfully embrace their creative nature, they have to have a working knowledge of all of the spiritual laws. Tune in as we dive into the fourth Hermetic principle...
